Cable TV services company Hathway has selected NDS XTVT digital video recorder technology to launch India's first cable DVR. NDS, provider of technology solutions for digital pay-TV, made this announcement on Tuesday. 

In partnership with NDS, Hathway can now deliver a combination of broadcast and on-demand digital television to Indian cable subscribers. The new XTV DVR solution will be deployed during this year and will give subscribers control over what they watch and when.

In future, the new technology would enable the subscribers to support advanced features, including series-linked television shows and push video on demand.

NDS XTV allows subscribers to pause, record, playback, rewind and fast forward their broadcast cable television channels for viewing at their chosen times.  Viewers can also record one programme while playing another or record both simultaneously.

NDS Group plc, a majority-owned subsidiary of News Corporation, supplies open end-to-end digital technology and services to digital pay-television platform operators and content providers.
