Air India Express, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Air India, will soon start its services to Kuala Lumpur and Abu Dhabi from Tiruchirapalli, a top official has said.

The operations would commence with 737-800 aircraft, National Aviation Company of India Ltd, Tiruchi, Manager R Nadarajan said at a function in Tiruchirapalli on Tuesday night.

Simultaneously, the airlines would add six additional flights to Dubai in a week.

Speaking on the occasion, S Srikumar, Airport Director, Tiruchi, said, Air Asia -- the Malaysia-based budget airline -- was evincing interest to launch its services from here and had already approached AAI for the necessary approval.

Paramount Airways has plans to operate services between Tiruchi and Chennai and the airline company had already submitted its schedule to AAI.
