Mukesh Ambani-promoted Mumbai Special Economic Zone Company (MSME) has claimed a rehabilitation package drafted by it is better than the one cleared by the government.

"The MSEZ package offers many attractive monetary benefits and career opportunities," the company said. In a press note, the company said the union government's policy moots returning 10 per cent of land to the Project Affected Persons (PAPs).

The MSEZ package, announced by the company in February this year, has a provision to return 12.5 per cent of developed land to the PAPs. Such land will become a permanent source of income for the project affected families.

The press note said MSEZ project, being developed in the neighbouring Raigad district in Pen, Panvel and Uran, will cause no physical displacement, and none of the villages will be acquired.

The company said it has offered to pay Rs 10 lakh per acre for land under paddy and Rs 5 lakh per acre for unproductive land in the project area. The land prize offered by the company is 10 times more than prescribed in the ready reckoner of the state government.

"Many attractive provisions in the MSEZ package makes it stand out among all the rehabilitation packages in the country', the press note added.
