Potato chips manufacturers, especially those in the business of French fries, may not have to bother about sorting out quality potatoes from the chunk they purchase for their products as Dantiwada Agriculture University has developed a new variety specifically for manufacturing potato finger chips.

'Kufri Surya', the new variety developed by Dantiwada Agriculture University's Deesa Research Centre, is the answer to the problems faced by potato finger chips manufacturers.

Talking about the qualities of the new variety, which make it an ideal choice of finger chips manufacturers, S B S Tikka, director of research, Dantiwada Agriculture University, said the sugar content in the new variety is less and has higher shelf life than other normal varieties.

Moreover, the new variety potatoes can be stored for one-and-a-half months without using cold storage facility.
