Ford India on Tuesday launched a diesel variant of its premium hatchback Ford Fusion priced at Rs 659,000 (ex-showroom Delhi).

The new variant would be powered by a 1.4 litre Duratorq engine.

"Our customers were demanding a diesel variant of Fusion. Based on their feedback we are launching the new product," company managing director and president Arvind Mathew told reporters in New Delhi.

The company presently sells a petrol variant of Fusion priced at Rs 641,000 (on road Delhi).

Mathew said the company intends to further enhance its share in the mid-size segment with this new launch.
