Take it as Ahmedabad's reply to Mumbai or Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's repartee to his Maharashtra counterpart Vilasrao Deshmukh's promise of a global financial hub.

Ahmedabad's Tagore Hall, popularly called Town Hall, recently witnessed the inauguration of a plan to develop a financial services city near Gujarat's capital of Gandhinagar. The latter would consist of an international financial city segment, domestic finance city sector, a technology park and an integrated township on Thursday.

A few months back, a similar plan to make Mumbai an International Finance Centre was launched.

Do you think Modi's vision will be better than Deshmukh's?

Will the Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT) rival the planned financial hub of Mumbai or will GIFT be complementary to and a feeder to its Mumbai counterpart?
