Shutdown to protest Sena violence

The Raigad district Congress has called for a shut down in the Panvel area of New Mumbai on Friday to protest violence by Shiv Sena's activists at Belapur near Mumbai on Thursday.

The protest by Sena activists on Thursday that turned violent was against a planned special economic zone by the Mukesh-Ambani led Reliance Industries [Get Quote]. Over 30 policemen were injured and more than 100 vehicles damaged in the violence.
