'Azim Premji wants to change India'

October 30, 2006
Steve Hamm has just published Bangalore Tiger that tells the story of Wipro's transformation and its impact on the tech services industry and the rules of global competition.

'Think of Wipro as a wake-up call for complacent Americans. With its intensity to win and its hard work ethic, it's a reminder of America of 100 years ago,' Hamm -- a senior writer and the software editor at BusinessWeek, who has tracked the tech industry since 1989 -- writes in the preface of his book that was formally launched by Azim Premji, Wipro's chairman, in New York October 24.

Hamm (left) tells rediff.com why he chose to do a book on Wipro, what makes the company stand out and also about its 'colourful protagonist' Azim Premji.
