Indian stars at Microsoft
Microsoft has redefined the way we use computers and made its co-founder Bill Gates the world's richest man.
The IT giant has a 65,000-strong workforce, of which reportedly over 5 per cent is Indian.
Amongst Microsoft's top executives are six Indians, all corporate vice-presidents, who are in charge of various critical operations.
Meet the Indian stars at Microsoft. This list is not in any particular order:
Sanjay Parthasarathy
Corporate Vice-President, Developer & Platform Evangelism Group
Sanjay hails from India's TVS family that manages the TVS group founded by T V Sundaram Iyengar. He has a master's degree in engineering from the famed Massachusetts Institute of Technology; a master's degree in management from the MIT Sloan School of Management; and a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Anna University in Chennai.
His focus at Microsoft is on 'evangelism of the Microsoft platform to developers, IT professionals and partners.' His team manages the company's relationships with key partners, including SAP AG, Siebel Systems Inc and Dassault Systems.
He joined Microsoft as product manager in the Windows multimedia group in August 1990 and has held many roles in the company, including director, public network marketing and product manager for multimedia technologies.
Before being elevated as corporate vice-president, he was general manager of worldwide customer systems, a role which included responsibility for www.microsoft.com and overseeing the IT infrastructure for Microsoft's sales and marketing organisations.
Before moving to Redmond, USA, where Microsoft's headquarters is located, Sanjay was regional director of Microsoft's South Asia region, responsible for business in India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, the Maldives and Bhutan.
