Stop restrictive practices: RBI

September 27, 2005 19:08 IST
The Reserve Bank of India on Tuesday asked organisations accepting cash to desist from restrictive practices, including forcing customers to note down their names on bank notes and listing the note number on the bills submitted for payment, as it caused harassment to public.

Organisations including government/semi-government offices, public/private sector institutions and individuals accepting cash should desist from restrictive practices, RBI said in a release.

It said restrictive practices, including insisting on undertaking while depositing higher denomination bank notes, cause avoidable harassment to the public.
