India can be BPO hub: Japan
January 29, 2005 16:53 IST
India has the potential to become an outsourcing hub for Japanese automotive industry as well as other sectors, Vikram Kirloskar, the chairman of Kirloskar Systems Ltd, said.

Speaking at a manufacturing workshop with the theme 'succeeding in Japan' organised by CII and India-Japan Initiative in Kolkata on Saturday, Kirloskar said the success story in the software industry could be replicated in the manufacturing sector.

Indian entrepreneurs would have to modify their work culture to make the association with Japanese fruitful, he said.

Kirloskar said in today's competitive world, manufacturing success is all about productivity prowess and capital-for-labour substitution strategies, which were central to achieve such efficiencies.

He said that IJI would leverage the vast knowledge, experience and relationship in both India and Japan to act as a new gateway for doing business with that country.
