BHEL, Maruti equity sale deferred

The Union Cabinet on Thursday deferred a decision on selling equity in two public sector undertakings BHEL and Maruti.

The Cabinet could not take a final decision in this regard, official sources told reporters after the meeting.

Earlier this week, the government had decided to sell 10 per cent equity in Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd [Get Quote] and 7.5 per cent shares in Maruti Udyog Ltd [Get Quote] next fiscal to raise close to Rs 2,500 crore (Rs 25 billion).
