Airtel, in a tie-up with RecruitGuru, has launched a 'Job Alert on Mobile' service in Mumbai that would alert jobseekers of vacancies through SMS.

The service unshackles the jobseeker from an Internet-based job search as it collates listings from a number of job-listing sites and sends them to the user on a daily basis, Airtel said in a release on Thursday.

The user would have to register with the e-recruitment search solution provider RecruitGuru's website and JAM would deliver over 10,000 jobs on a daily basis to its customers in Mumbai, it said.

The service also enables Airtel customers to e-mail their resumes in response to any job-advertisement through their mobile phones, it added.

The service has been launched only in Mumbai and would be extended to other circles also, it said.

Initially JAM is offered as a free service till February 28, 2005. The operator, however, plans to levy Re 1 per SMS sent to the customer, it said, adding, while applying for a job, the return SMS would be charged at Rs 3 per message.
