"This is a new concept in India and I am sure it will take off in a big way due to the attractive prices of imported products sold at 'My dollarstore'," R K Dhawan, a sub-franchisee of the US-based company, said.

The first 'My Dollarstore' will open on September 27 in Karol Bagh, Dhawan, who is the chairman of the Federation of Indian Export Organisations, Northern region, and is currently leading a team of Indian exporters to China, said.

"This will be the first of the four 'My Dollarstores' to be opened in New Delhi," he said, adding that 30 per cent of the goods at the shop will be from China, 30 per cent from the United States.

The rest of the products will be from other nations. "No Indian product will be sold in 'My Dollarstore'," Dhawan said while noting that the shop will get some 30 containers from China per month.

Most of the items from China are expected to be different types of toys, he said. 'My Dollarstore' will have a web-based and state-of-the-art point of sale system which would allow the US-based company to monitor the sales at the shop on a real-time basis and supply goods that are in demand.

Dhawan said he would be one of the four sub-franchisees open the 'My Dollarstore' in New Delhi of the US-based Dollarstore Corporation, a franchiser of consumer retail stores in the US and elsewhere.
