Infosys Technologies Ltd on Wednesday said it will invest $10 million to set up a software development campus in Shanghai in association with Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park.
The company's Chinese subsidiary, has signed a letter of intent with Shanghai Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park to set up a software development campus in Shanghai at an investment of $10 million in the next two years, Infosys informed the Bombay Stock Exchange.
The centre will be set up on 25,000 sq mt of land, with a seating capacity for 1,000 engineers.
The project is expected to start by January 2006 and will have state-of-the-art technological infrastructure for software services and recreational facilities for employees, similar to other development centres of Infosys, it said.
"Our new development centre in Shanghai will stand as a testimony to China's significant strides in the promotion of IT. It will also enable us to combine the local talent with Infosys' global delivery model to provide our clients with best-in-class services," said James Lin, CEO and MD, Infosys Technologies, Shanghai.
"We thank the government in China for their support and commitment towards promoting centers of excellence in the region," Lin added.
