FM on day-long Mumbai visit

Finance Minister P Chidambaram on Friday began his day-long visit to the financial capital by reviewing the operations of Unit Trust of India.

Chidambaram, who arrived in Mumbai on Thursday night, was received by N Damodaran, administrator of specialised undertaking of UTI at its headquarters in the Bandra-Kurla Complex.

The finance minister is also scheduled to inaugurate the new corporate centre of Dena Bank in BKC, sources said.

He would later visit headquarters of National Stock Exchange in the complex and also join its 10th anniversary celebrations.

He is slated to carry out a review of two major state-owned insurance orgainsations – Life Insurance Corp and General Insurance Corp -- in south Mumbai.

Chidambaram would give away Businessworld's 'Most Respected Company Awards', in the evening sources added.
