Reliance offers free local calls

October 28, 2004 19:20 IST

Ending the concept of talk time in pre-paid mobile telephony, Reliance Infocomm has launched a new recharge voucher of Rs 440 that offers unlimited local calls to any Reliance mobile or fixed phone within the circle.

"The new RCV would be immensely useful to Reliance India Mobile community which will soon be 10-million strong. The RIM community can now freely stay in touch within the same circle without any concern of talk-time cost," Reliance Infocomm president (products and services) S P Shukla said.

The RCV is aimed at facilitating the large population of its subscribers who have heavy local calls usage, it said.

The new product would be useful for small businessmen, entrepreneurs in multiple locations and travelling sales personnel, apart from families with more than one RIM connection, it added.

Under the scheme, the Reliance group company would levy eight paise per minute for calls to other mobile and fixed phones within the same circle, while tariff for STD calls remains unchanged, it said.

The new RCV is valid for 30 days from the date of issue, it added.
