The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration on Monday ordered manufacturer of Bisleri mineral water, Parle Bisleri to stop production in its two units in Mumbai with immediate effect.

"The mineral water company has been asked to stop production till they comply with the norms of Indian Bureau of Standards, which had complained about non-compliance of bureau standards, more than a week ago," commissioner A Ramakrishnan said.

"We have not banned the production of bottled water of the company but have only asked them to comply with IBS mandatory norms," he said.

The company will be allowed to resume production once they comply with IBS norms, Ramakrishnan added.
