Rising trend in gold remained unabated on the bullion market on Thursday with the yellow metal rising sharply to touch another new record high of Rs 6610 per 10 gram due to poor supply after further sharp rise in the global prices.

On Tuesday, gold had shot up to a 16-year high in the European and New York markets and touched a high of $445.15 per troy ounce due to heavy investor buying after a record fall in US dollar against euro.

The dollar had fallen sharply to a record low of $1.3049 per euro on Tuesday.

Standard gold (99.5 purity) started the day at an all-time high of Rs 6610 per 10 gram, showing a smart gain of

Rs 30 over Wednesday's close of Rs 6580.

Pure gold (99.9 purity) also opened at a record high of Rs 6645 per 10 gram, also showing a similar gain over the previous close of Rs 6615.
