TVS Motor two-wheeler sales drop in April

May 03, 2004 15:16 IST

TVS Motor Company Ltd's total two-wheeler sales has dropped to 81,032 units in April when compared with 84,747 units for the same month last year.

The total sales of motorcycles also decreased to 46,881 units as against 58,291 units sold in April last year, the company said in a release on Monday.

"This was mainly due to the continued drop in sales of two-stroke motorcycles," it said, adding another reason was the planned marketing initiatives for injecting Victor GLX
125, which was launched yesterday targeting the executive segment.

The sales of scooterettes, however, grew by 54 per cent at 15,172 units (9,880 units in April 2003). Recently, the TVS Scooty brand crossed the 10 lakh (1 million) unit mark.

Moped sales stood at 18,979 units in April (16,576 units), up by 14 per cent.

Exports registered a 188 per cent rise at 3,027 units during the period under review, TVS Motor added.
