BS Corporate Bureau in New Delhi | May 03, 2004 08:23 IST

Private FM radio station Radio City on Sunday said that an ACNielsen ORG-MARG survey has ranked it as the number one FM radio station in Mumbai and Delhi.

According to the study, Radio City has the highest number of listeners among all radio stations. The research also points out that Radio City has recorded the highest total awareness and time spent on listening among all FM radio stations.

In Bangalore and Lucknow, Radio City is the only private FM radio station. In Mumbai, the study puts Radio Mirchi at number two in term of listeners with 25 per cent listnership, while the number three position has gone to Win 94.6 with 18 per cent listnership.

The number four position in Mumbai, according to the study, goes to Vividh Bharti with 9 per cent market share, followed by Red FM with 5 per cent market share.

In Delhi, Radio Mirchi is number two with 34 per cent listnership, while Red FM is third with 15 per cent listnership. AIR FM Gold and AIR FM Rainbow rank third and fourth with 7 per cent and 3 per cent market share, respectively.

In the multiple station cities of Mumbai and Delhi, Radio City has the highest listenership share with 42 per cent in Mumbai and 39 per cent in Delhi among all other radio stations.

The study reveals that time spent listening to Radio City on a weekday varies on an average from 1 to 1.4 hours in both the cities, which is the highest among all radio stations.

The research also emphasises radio as the most often used medium for sourcing music and Hindi as the most preferred language. The research states that there has been a fair amount of preference for non-music shows introduced by radio stations such as Radio City.
