RBI to remain open on Mar 30, 31

Reserve Bank of India offices and branches of agency banks in the city and satellite township of Navi Mumbai, will remain open on March 30, a holiday owing to Ramnavami, and March 31 to facilitate direct tax collection.

Depending on the government's requirements and the rush for payment of taxes, the banking hours may be suitably extended and counters kept open for the purpose, RBI said in a communication to banks on Saturday.

This facility to keep offices open on a holiday (March 30) has been provided on a request from the chief commissioner of Income Tax, Mumbai, it said.
