A 'morphing' camera phone from BenQ

BenQ, the fourth largest manufacturer of mobile phones worldwide, has launched a new camera phone model in the Indian market.

The BenQ S670C, which is the eighth model to come from the BenQ stable in India, is priced at Rs 13,450 (MRP).

Weighing 80 gms, the phone has a call time of 2.5 to 3 hours and a 300 K pixel digital camera with four resolution settings and four light settings.

The sleek flip phone has an interesting 3D face morphing technology that allows the user to edit pictures with twelve morphing effects and five magnitude settings.

Users can choose twelve different expressions that can make the subjects in the pictures happy, angry, goofy, puckered-lipped and more.

"In the future, 3D image processing and 3D engines will be one of the core technologies found in BenQ mobile phones and will be applied widely to the User Interface", said G Prasanna, business manager (mobile), BenQ India.

BenQ which has manufacturing plants in Malaysia, Mexico, China and Taiwan has 14,600 employees worldwide. In 2002, its revenues exceeded $3.03 billion.

The S670C model is the latest from the company to hit the Indian markets. The  model has MMS (multimedia messaging service) capabilities that let the user personalize text messages with morphed creations and other graphics. It also sports other features, including a large 128x128 screen with 65K-color for easy viewing and navigation.

On the exterior, the S670C has a futuristic OLED glow back lighted holographic design and elegant contours. In combination with its cool blue keypad back lighting, color-coded menus and six animated wallpapers, the S670C is a phone that BenQ claims 'encompasses style and enjoyment.'
