Hyundai sales surge 109% in February

India's second-biggest carmaker Hyundai Motor India on Tuesday said its sales soared 109 per cent to 15,508 units in February 2004.

Domestic sales grew by 68 per cent to 11,590 units in the month under review over 6,887 units in February 2003.

"We have stayed focused on our twin goals of setting benchmarks in product engine and ownership experience," HMIL managing director J I Kim said in a statement.

HMIL is in the process of investing $220 million at its manufacturing facility near Chennai to augment production capacity to 250,000 units by the third quarter of 2004.
