Lodha keeps away from Priyamvada's shraadh

July 15, 2004 18:50 IST

Rajendra Lodha, who has been bequeathed M P Birla's over Rs 5000 crore (Rs 50 billion) assets by Priyamvada Birla, kept himself away from her shraadh ceremony at the Birla Park on Thursday.

The ceremony, described as a family affair was low key with members of the clan and their friends attending in small numbers.

Sources confirmed that neither Rajendera Lodha nor his family members had attended the ceremonial shraadh (13th day ceremony after death).

The Lodha family had indicated this morning that they might not attend the ritual even though Aditya Vikram Lodha, son of Rajendra Lodha, had on Wednesday told PTI that the family was in 13-day mourning.

The daughter-in-law of Lodha, when contacted by PTI to enquire about their programmes for the day or whether they would attend the ceremony, said, "I don't know the programme. My husband or father-in-law can tell you about this and I will pass on your queries to them."
