Unemployed to get free travel for interviews

July 06, 2004 13:26 IST

Unemployed youths attending interviews for selection to central government jobs will be given full concession in second class on production of a certified copy of call letter and application, the government announced in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.

Presenting the 2004-05 Rail Budget, Union Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav said the proposal in this regard was announced in the 1998-99 Budget but due to unavoidable reasons, it could not be implemented.

"It is now proposed to implement the proposal of giving full concession as announced earlier," he said.

With a view to recognising the sacrifices of defence personnel killed in action against terrorists and extremists, widows of defence personnel would be granted 75 per cent concession in second and sleeper classes as given to widows of policemen and para-military personnel.
