'WE'VE CHANGED THE WORLD'S VIEW OF INDIA': India shone at Davos. It was the toast at the World Economic Forum's Annual Meeting 2004 with an extraordinary celebration of the WEF's 20-year relationship with India and the Confederation of Indian Industry.

Praise was heaped on the country for its growth and commitment to reform. It was a cheery time indeed.

Divestment Minister Arun Shourie is leading the Indian delegation to the WEF's meeting in the Swiss ski resort.

Speaking on '20 years of partnership between India and the World Economic Forum,' he said that these 20 years had seen India change its view of the world, its view of itself and the world's view of India.

"We are now able to deal with the world as equals," he said. "We, in India, don't believe in divorce," he said, and hoped the next 20 years would be even better than the last 20.
