New heads for SBI, PNB, BoB

The government is likely to appoint Indian Overseas Bank's chief managing director, SC Gupta as the Punjab National Bank chief and Dena Bank head AK Khandelwal, as the CMD of Bank of Baroda.

State Bank of Indore's managing director TS Bhattacharya is tipped to be the MD of State Bank of India.

KN Prithviraj, executive director of United Bank of India, is likely to be appointed head of the Oriental Bank of Commerce

The proposals have been cleared by the Finance Ministry and papers are being processed for approval by the appointments committee of cabinet, sources said.

The candidates would replace the bank chiefs who superannuate next year. Punjab National Bank chairman and managing director SS Kohli and OBC chief BD Narang are to superannuate at the end of April.

Bank of Baroda chairman and managing director PS Shenoy is slated to retire at the end of February.

The ACC is also processing the proposals to appoint K Cherian Verghese, chairman and managing director of Corporation Bank as the new Union Bank of India chief in place of V Leeladhar who was recently appointed as Reserve Bank of India deputy governor.

Replacements for Gupta at IOB and Khandelwal at Dena Bank have not been finalised yet, the sources said.
