BS Corporate Bureau in Mumbai | August 14, 2004 12:33 IST

IBM, Infosys and Wipro have emerged the most preferred IT employers in the country according to an IT employer brand perception study conducted by Brand-comm.

Though Infosys and Wipro have managed to bag two of the top slots, multinational companies top the list when it comes to critical areas such as growth opportunities and compensation.

Indian companies have managed to emerge on the top when it comes to factors such as work environment (Infosys), training and re-skilling (Infosys and Wipro), and job security (Infosys).

Though the list of preferred employer is largely dominated by the usual companies such as IBM, Wipro, Infosys, Intel etc, companies such as Texas Instruments, which has a fairly small presence in the country has been named one of the most preferred employer when it comes to growth opportunities, exposure to cutting edge technologies and pride factor in working with a renowned company.

Indian companies also bagged top honours when it came to onsite opportunities and social responsibility.

The study involved a sample size of 202 respondents with 117 respondents from large companies (employee strength bigger than 1,000) and 85 respondents from smaller companies (approximate employee strength of 500).

Respondents were drawn from 18 different companies with 2-7 years of experience.

A study of this kind is helpful to many. But the sample size and companies considered should be large enough.
