SC order not to hit sale of other PSUs: BJP

September 16, 2003 13:09 IST

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday said the Supreme Court order halting the divestment of Hindustan Petroleum Corp Ltd and Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd will not affect sale of other public sector undertakings as those were not set up by an Act of Parliament.

BJP president M Venkaiah Naidu said the highest court's views have to be respected and the government would take appropriate measures.

P N Vijay, the party's economic cell convenor, said other PSUs that were divested were not set up by an Act of Parliament and the divestment plans there would not suffer.
