The delegation, which had an hour-long meeting with CII led by its secretary general Tarun Das also had detailed discussion on strengthening bilateral cooperation and implications of India-Thailand Free Trade Agreement as Pakistan also proposed to sign similar agreements.

The India-Thailand Free trade agreement is expected to boost Japanese investment in India through its subsidiaries in Thailand.

A 15-member Pakistani business delegation is to visit India through Wagah border on Saturday to participate in Indo-Pak CEO forum organised by CII in New Delhi next week.

After the controversy over CII's stand on Singapore issues in the face of some documents released by the EU in this regard, A C Muthiah, president of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, who is also part of the Indian delegation to WTO, issued a statement highlighting its strong reservations against the inclusion of these contentious issues into the WTO agenda.

"We at FICCI believe that it is difficult to see how a WTO agreement on investment would strike a balance between disciplines and flexibilities, and between the rights and obligations of investors and host countries."
