Cancun meet: SJM praises govt's stand
September 11, 2003 12:23 IST
The Swadeshi Jagran Manch, which has been all along criticising the Commerce Minister Arun Jaitley for his approach towards the Fifth Ministerial of World Trade Organisation, for a change, has appreciated the government for its stand taken towards protecting national interests, particularly where contentious issues like agriculture are concerned.
In a communication to Jaitley on Wednesday, the Manch convenor, P Muralidhar Rao, said it appreciated the commerce ministry for the stand he has taken on deepening the Doha strategy on various issues that were figuring at the Cancun Ministerial.
Rao also expressed the hope that the minister would take note of the memorandum submitted following a rally on September 2, 2003 by Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, Bharatiya Kisan Sangh and various other organisations demanding effective protection of national interests at the WTO conference.
