Several medicines substandard: FDA October 22, 2003 13:54 IST Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration has found medicines and food supplements manufactured by several manufacturers, between August 16 and September 15, to be of substandard quality.
The medicines and food supplements had failed to meet the standards set by Drug Control Laboratory of the FDA, an official release said in Mumbai. The medicines include Vitamin B-complex of a company from Hyderabad, Oxytocin injection and Forte capsules from two Bihar-based companies, two batches of Aspirin tablets from a company in Daman, the release said. Medicare Infusion set of a company in Ahmedabad, Lobate-G-skin cream of a Pithampur-based company, Isopropyl rubbing alcohol of a company in Indore, Dexamethasone tablets and Ibuprofen and Norfloxacin of a company in Muzaffarnagar were also found to be not meeting the FDA standards, it said. Other products include Povidone-Iodine solution of a Pune-based company and Norfloxacin tablets of a company in Palghar, Thane, the release added.
