Satyam wins World Bank contract

Satyam Computer Services on Wednesday announced the winning of a new long-term contract from its existing customer, the World Bank whereby it has been chosen as the World Bank's primary offshore IT services partner.

Commenting on the contract, Rakesh Asthana, director (corporate information services), World Bank, said: "With this contract, our relationship with Satyam has matured from a contractual relationship to a strategic partnership. Over the next five years, we see Satyam as a key contributor to the implementation of the World Bank's strategy."

Scott Ligon, Satyam relationship manager, World Bank, said: "Our relationship has moved to the next level with the introduction of quality processes and a tightly integrated ODC infrastructure. The World Bank-Satyam Offshore Development Center in Chennai is considered on par with our 110 World Bank country offices around the world."

Satyam was preferred for its relationship management, high quality work and responsiveness to meet a full range of IT service needs. Satyam would deliver solutions like ERP, Java and Net.

"This contract is for offshore services with provision for onsite projects. We look forward to a continued and mutually rewarding relationship with the World Bank," said Satyam president Ram Mynampati on the occasion.
