Decision on RIL, BSNL WLL likely on Tue

July 14, 2003 17:20 IST

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, which earlier this month sought clarifications from Reliance and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd on their WLL (wireless in local loop) tariff, may take a final decision on Tuesday.

Sources close to the development said, the telecom regulator's decision will depend on the replies from the two telecom companies on their WLL schemes.

Trai had sought details from the state-owned BSNL on its latest WLL tariff in which it has offered to give WLL connection at a price of Rs 20 while in the case of Reliance it had asked the company to clarify as to why tariffs of Monsoon Hungama 501 offer were not sent to the regulator prior to the advertisement blitz.

Even though clarifications were sought, Trai did not stop the offers.

As per Monsoon Hungama, a subscriber gets a multimedia mobile phone and connection for Rs 501 only and has a range of Budget plans which starts at Rs 149 per month and incoming is free across all plans.
