Information and Broadcasting Minister Sushma Swaraj lighted the traditional lamp at the Indira Gandhi stadium in New Delhi on Friday evening, before the dazzling display put up by Bollywood stars to regale Non-Resident Indians and Persons of Indian Origin who came from 60 countries to attend the three-day Pravasi Bharatiya Divas celebrations.
It was the government's special gift to its distinguished guests. Judging from the impromptu dancing in the aisles and incessant clapping, the show seemed to be a bigger hit than most Bollywood films.
Minister for Tourism Vinod Khanna and FICCI president A C Muthiah accompanied Ms Swaraj.
