SIA to operate 14 more flights to India

December 13, 2003 15:43 IST

Singapore Airlines on Saturday said it would introduce 14 additional flights to India between December and February and also use larger aircraft on 59 scheduled services.

Thirteen additional flights would be added on the Bangalore route, while Kolkata would have one more frequency, said a press release issued by the airline.

A total of 33 scheduled flights to Mumbai and 26 to Chennai would be operated with larger aircraft to meet traditional high passenger traffic during the winter season.

Singapore Airlines now operates 29 weekly flights to India. These include 10 to Mumbai, seven each to Delhi and Chennai, three to Bangalore, and two to Kolkata.

Its subsidiary, SilkAir, flies 11 times per week to Hyderabad, Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram.

The launch of additional flights would be subject to the government approval, the release said.

International carriers like Lufthansa, SriLankan Airlines and Qatar Airways have already announced launch of more flights to India under the government's 'open sky' policy.
