Malaysia Airlines on Friday announced it will operate 11 extra Boeing 777 flights between Kuala Lumpur and Mumbai under the open sky policy for two months from January apart from introducing special fares for senior citizens.

The extra flights would meet the requirement of additional seat demand due to peak travel season, sales manager Manohar Shetty said on Friday.

Singapore, Qatar, Lufthansa and Sri Lankan airlines are some of the other international carriers which are planning additional flights to various destinations in India under the seasonal open sky policy.

Shetty said special features being offered for a three month period include special discounts to senior citizens above 55 years for travel to select destinations like Malaysia, Singapore, US, Australia and New Zealand between January 1 and March 31, 2004, subject to conditions.

Passengers travelling in first and business class to any Malaysia Airline destination will be entitled to 90 per cent discount for a companion traveller for three months beginning January, Shetty added.
