The Confederation of Indian Industry is planning to initiate several steps to accelerate business and trade relations between Indian and Pakistan.

As a part of this initiative, the CII is planning to organise an India-Pakistan CEO's business forum, launch a website to facilitate better business ties, and organise an exhibition to showcase Pakistani products and services in India.

In a press release, CII president Anand Mahindra said these three initiatives would go a long way in facilitating the development of a "soft infrastructure" that was essential for business and trade ties.

"We, in CII, are encouraged that the government of India has welcomed our new initiatives to facilitate business ties between India and Pakistan," Mahindra said.

The India-Pakistan CEO's Business Forum, which aims to meet every six months, will have 15 CEOs from either country and is likely to hold it's first meeting in September in New Delhi.

The website will aim at facilitating bilateral trade and investment. It will provide an updated information on the state of the economy of the two countries, bilateral trade statistics, business opportunities, and business events.

The CII's move comes in the backdrop of the recent initiatives of the Indian government to foster better ties between the two neighbours.
