In a massive expansion plan, Air Sahara announced on Wednesday that it would add 24 new flights to its network on September 7 and induct two additional Boeing and a regional aircraft.

"This launch is the biggest-ever done by anybody in the history of Indian aviation. It will include two new destinations of Jaipur and Ahmedabad and increase flight frequencies on major routes," Air Sahara CEO U K Bose told reporters in New Delhi.

The expansion would lead to the airline hiking its total number of daily flights from 79 to 103 and adding 3,000 more seats taking the total tally to about 11,300.

The airline would induct two Boeing 737-700 aircraft and a Canadian Regional Jet 200 aircraft to its fleet thus increasing the total size of the fleet to 16.

Air Sahara now has 13 aircraft, including 9 Boeing 737-700, 737-800 and 737-400 aircraft, as well as four CRJ-200s.

The carrier would introduce new flights connecting Jaipur and Ahmedabad with Delhi and Mumbai and also launch a Bangalore-Cochin-Bangalore service, Bose said.

Besides, one more flight would be added on the Delhi-Mumbai, Chennai-Bangalore, Mumbai-Bangalore and Delhi-Chennai metro sectors, he said adding, that 1,000 people have been recruited to cater to the increase in service.

Also, the Mumbai-Chennai-Mumbai route would have two return morning-evening daily flights, while the Pune-Hyderabad sector would be served with a CRJ-200 aircraft.

The Kolkata-Bangalore route would have a direct flight, he said.
