August 26, 2003 16:59 IST

Fiat India Pvt Ltd launched a new series of its 'B' segment car -- Palio NV series -- in four variants, priced between Rs 353, 000 (ex-showroom, Delhi) for entry-level and Rs 434,000 for the high-end model.

"We expect the launch of Palio NV series to fuel the next phase of growth of Fiat in India and the series have improved fuel efficiency and safety features," Fiat India chairman and managing director Alberto Montanari told reporters on Tuesday.

The NV series, fitted with 1.2-litre petrol engines, is available in four models -- EL NV, EL PS, ELX NV, Sport NV -- and is being rolled out in eight colours, including passion purple.

The Palio series, which was built on the company's '178 platform', was customised for the Indian market by increasing its ground clearance, incorporating an engine-cooling system to suit the country's climatic conditions and offering increased leg-room at the rear of the car.

The car has an increased fuel efficiency and provides about 10 per cent more mileage and Fiat India has also introduced a 'New Service Policy'.

Under the policy, the first free service would be offered at 1,000 to 1,500 km or two months from the date of purchase, second at 7,500 km or six months and the third at 15,000 km or 12 months, whichever is earlier.
