Sensex ends with 39-point gain

The Sensex was firm right through the session today, and closed with a gain of 39 points at 4,095.

HPCL vaulted 6% (Rs 23) to Rs 396. MTNL and BHEL also closed higher today.

ICICI Bank zoomed 13% (Rs 21) to Rs 177.

Infosys added Rs 44 to Rs 3,717. Satyam and HCL also finished with gains.

Dr. Reddy's added 3% (Rs 31) to Rs 1,099. Cipla and Ranbaxy closed in positive zones.

ITC gained nearly 3% (Rs 21) to Rs 785. Reliance was up Rs 3 at Rs 371. HLL declined 2% (Rs 4) to Rs 189.

Zee moved up 3.5% (Rs 4) to Rs 116. Tisco was up Rs 4 at Rs 247.

HDFC slipped 6% (Rs 32) to Rs 481.
