Maruti included in MSCI India index

Morgan Stanley Capital International has added Maruti Udyog to its India index with effect from August 29.

According to a release issued in New York on Wednesday, MSCI has added seven Asian and European companies to its international stock indices.

MSCI added Seiko Epson to its Japan index, Singapore Post to the Singapore index, and Chunghwa Telecom to its Taiwan index.

In Europe, it added Puma to its Germany index, Banche Popolari Unite to its Italy index and Yell Group to its UK index, the release said.

Maruti has been firm right through the morning session, and was up 2 per cent (Rs 4) at Rs 222 on the Bombay Stock Exchange at 1135 hrs.
