BPCL told to finish projects ahead of divestmentThe Centre has asked the public sector Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited to expedite completion of its major ongoing projects, ahead of the commencement of government's divestment programme in the company early next financial year. In the memorandum of understanding signed by the company with the Union petroleum ministry for the year 2002-03, emphasis was laid on speedy completion of projects within the scheduled time and approved cost such as refinery modernisation project and extension of Mumbai-Manmad Pipeline to Manglia (Indore). In line with government's plan for phased deregulation of the petroleum sector, BPCL has undertaken and implemented complete restructuring of the organisation so as to be in the cutting edge of marketing in the deregulated scenario. The MoU, for the first time, included the new human resource development parameter for the company in order to facilitate transition to the enterprise resource planning and to face the challenges arising out of post-divestment and post-APM scenario. BPCL aims to differentiate itself from competition by significantly improving its fuel offerings at its retail outlets, dispensing pure fuel at right quantity and delivering courteous professional service.
