Discrimination against SSP unit continues

Vinod K Punshi, managing director of Dharamsi Morarji Chemical Company

The increased allocation for the rural infrastructural development, reduction in interest rates, support for agricultural research and creation of a corporation for agricultural insurance has helped the long term development of the agricultural sector.

In case of SSP, the selling prices are fixed by the state government and we hope that they would increase the issue price quickly.

Meanwhile, the SSP industry will need to reduce the discounts to maintain profitability.

Discrimination of subsidy for SSP per unit of nutrient continues as compared to DAP. Though a slight begining has been made in the Budget to reduce the discrimination, SSP industry was expecting complete elemination of this discrimination.
