Jaswant Singh is new FM; Sinha moves to MEA

Jaswant Singh is new finance ministerFinance Minister Yashwant Sinha confirmed on Monday that he was moving to the ministry of external affairs as part of a government reshuffle.

Sinha had been expected to swap jobs with foreign minister Jaswant Singh in an overhaul of the government and of the ruling Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party carried out on Monday by Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Balasaheb Vikhe Patil, who was elevated to the Cabinet rank, gets heavy industry portfolio, which was lying vacant after Manohar Joshi became Lok Sabha speaker.
