Several Indians in WEF Tech Pioneers list

Kallam Anji Reddy of Dr Reddy's Group and Gururaj Deshpande of Sycamore Networks Inc are among several Indians and people of Indian origin who figure in the list of 69 Technology Pioneers designated by the World Economic Forum.

The list was prepared by the Geneva-based WEF in advance of its conference in New York from January 31 to February 4.

Others who figure prominently in the list include Pradeep Singh (Aditi Technologies Pvt Ltd), Amish Mehta (CommercialWare Inc), Sanjay Parekh (Digital Envoy Inc), Dev Gupta (Narad Networks), Rajiv C Mody (Sasken Communication Technologies Inc), Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw (Biocon India) and Vinay L Deshpande (Encore Software Ltd).

The Technology Pioneers programme was created in partnership with Deloitte Touche Tomatsu in 2000 to provide a new perspective on the technology horizon.

Each year, the Forum selects upto 100 Technology Pioneers who are chief executives applying the most innovative and transformational technologies.

"The Technology Pioneers are at the forefront of change in a variety of technology sectors. We are excited to bring this community to our annual meeting in New York," said Klaus Schwab, president of the Forum.

By bringing the Technology Pioneers together with scientists, academics, NGOs and Forum members and partners, the Forum hopes to shed new light on how technologies can be used to find new vaccines, create economic growth and enhance global communication.
