Excise on tea reduced from Rs 2 to Re 1 per kg
To alleviate problems faced by tea industry
The Union Budget 2002-03 has reduced excise duty on tea from Rs 2 per kg to Re 1 per kg
Presenting the Budget in Parliament on Thursday, Union Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha said the tea industry is currently facing a number of problems in the domestic as well as international markets for a variety of reasons, and hence the relief.
