Budget good and modern: Lord Paul

London-based NRI industrialist Lord Swraj Paul on Thursday described the Budget as a modern one and "another step forward in bringing the Indian economy in line with the developed economies."

"The Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha has made a lot of progress in this budget towards capital account liberalization and I am sure he will be able to do more," Lord Paul said describing it as a "good Budget".

Describing Sinha as a "moderniser, a man of vision and a friend", Lord Paul said, "he has done more for education, which is very important, as the IT industry in India has already seen the benefit of having a reservoir of educated people."

"We must not let this lead be lost. More and more time, money and effort need to be invested in this direction", he said.

Stating that he would like India to commit more to spending on health, Lord Paul said "a healthy nation will remain a great asset to the country, and we must not take our eyes off this objective because it is a great economic strength."
