Reliance denies hand in petrol pump issue

Reliance Industries Limited on Friday said it had no involvement in the current petrol pump allotment controversy, amidst allegations made by Samata Party Member of Parliament Prabhunath Singh that the group was behind it.

"We categorically state that we have nothing to do with this matter and regret statements by individuals such as Singh to tarnish our reputation," Reliance said in a statement.

It said Singh has "obviously been misled by vested interests who have encouraged him to bring the Reliance name into this matter."

Singh has alleged that Reliance Group of Industries was behind the controversy to keep middle class people out of this business.
